Real Estate. The term brings up images of complicated transactions involving mounds of paperwork managed by old men in dark suits. To the contrary, the truth is something completely different. The term "real estate" encompasses a wide variety of different ideas and transactions, but what most people tend to think of is the buying and selling of residential and commercial property.
This blog is an attempt to dispel the common myths and rumors you may have heard concerning real estate. Over the next several months, I will review a typical residential real estate closing and discuss various issues that arise in the course of the transaction. After that, I will go into further detail on those issues that are unique to a commercial closing. All in all, I hope this blog will be a resource for general questions. Please keep in mind that the best option is to consult an attorney of your choice and seek answers to specific questions you may have.
Remember, this is the internet. I could be a 42-year-old World of Warcraft fanatic living in my mom's basement and making up all of this real estate information. For the record, I am not. I am an attorney with the firm of Massey, Stotser & Nichols, P.C. in Birmingham, Alabama.
With that being said, I look forward to any questions, comments and/or concerns you may have about the blog or the wonderful topic of "real estate."
